About the Department

Mechatronics, in its simplest terms; is a branch of engineering that deals with systems consisting of a combination of machinery, electronics and software. Mechatronics; a synergetic combination of mechanics, electronics, control and computer systems; is an interdisciplinary branch of engineering whose functions are based on the integration of mechanics, electronics, computer and software technology, and which deals with the design of products used to build advanced products, processes and systems.

The department was established in 2005 with the letter numbered 1651 and dated 16.05.2005 by The Council of Higher Education. A student who has a diploma from Erciyes University, Faculty of Engineering, Department of Mechatronics Engineering and equipped with the above - mentioned versatile, integrated knowledge and concepts, will have the privilege of finding a job in high - tech companies that operate with computer-integrated production systems and in research centers that develop and use advanced automation products.

The department started education in 2009 - 2010 academic year by taking 40 students for daytime education and 40 students for evening education, with the highest score in the preference of the faculty. In addition, it has activated its laboratories consisting of the latest technological training sets by way of a DPT supported project of approximately 1.400.000 TL. It has become a department with 7 classrooms and 10 laboratories by moving to the additional building of the faculty in 2009. Every year, it increases University - Industry Cooperation relations with technical trips and by inviting engineers from the industry. On the other hand; double-degree and annual 10 - 15 - day summer courses agreements were signed with the Debrecen University of Hungary, Department of Mechatronics Engineering.
