Masters Program

1 - Admission and Registration Conditions

Candidate students must have a bachelor degree in the relevant field or in the fields determined by the institute's board of directors with the recommendation of the department. They must have ALES (academic staff and graduate education entrance exam) standard score to be determined by the Senate, provided that they are not less than 55 from the ALES score type of the program they apply, from the ALES administered centrally by OSYM (Student Selection and Placement Center), or they must have received an equivalent score from an exam that is considered equivalent to ALES by Interuniversity Board.

A valid ALES certificate for foreign students who graduated from an bachelor or graduate program in domestic, a Turkish proficiency certificate from TOMER (Turkish Language Learning Center) and an equivalence certificate of a diploma accepted by YOK (Council of Higher Education) for foreign students who graduated from an bachelor or graduate program in abroad are required. Those who do not have a Turkish proficiency certificate from TOMER, after the acceptance and registration process, study at ERU TOMER and can start their masters degree after receiving a Turkish proficiency certificate.

Applications are evaluated by the institute board of directors according to the following principles and successful candidates are determined by considering the announced quotas.

  • In applications, all grades of the candidate to be evaluated are converted into an evaluation out of 100. In the calculation of conversion from a different system to a 100 point system, those who are in a different system (4, 3, etc.) which is together with a 100 point system and only those who are in a different system (4, 3, etc.), the conversion table of 100 point system of YOK is taken as a basis.
  • In the evaluation of student admission to master's programs with thesis, 50% of ALES score, 30% of bachelor grade point average and 20% of foreign language score are taken into account if there is no interview in the entrance exam. In the departments where the interview exam is given, 50% of ALES score, 15% of bachelor grade point average, 15% of foreign language score and 20% of the interview exam are taken. The total score must be at least 50. The foreign language score of the candidates who do not have a foreign language certificate from YDS (foreign language exam) or an exam accepted by Interuniversity Board is calculated as zero. Candidates above 50 points are placed in the relevant programs according to the announced quotas, in order from the highest score. In case of equality of points, the candidate with a high ALES score is preferred. The candidate who does not take the interview exam is considered unsuccessful.

5 - Graduation Requirements

A student enrolled in the program is required to take courses equivalent to 60 ECTS, at least 7 courses (one of which is scientific research techniques, research and publication ethics) and a seminar course, with a minimum of 120 ECTS and a maximum of 180 ECTS, and to pass these courses. Provided that at most two of the courses to be taken by the student in masters program are not taken during bachelor education, they can also be selected from the bachelor or masters courses offered in other higher education institutions.

The students who successfully defend their thesis in a field related to their subject in front of a selected jury are awarded a masters degree in Mechatronics Engineering.

6 - Employment Opportunities

Mechatronics engineers can work in public institutions and private organizations. They can work in many areas from production line to maintenance, from R&D department to design departments in factories. They can work in any company where electromechanical systems are used, as well as in factories that produce these systems or in automation companies that provide R&D services. They can work in existing institutions and organizations in a very wide area, or they can become a company owner by establishing their own company if they want. In addition, they can continue their graduate education and pursue an academic career in universities by studying masters and doctorate programs.
